Dental bridges available with your dentist

Patients seeking tooth or teeth replacement might be worried about the various options available to them. Some solutions may include a fixed dental bridge, a surgically placed dental implant, or partial and complete dentures. Drs. Michelle and Glenn Taylor are excited to offer a range of solutions to choose from and assist patients in selecting the restoration most appropriate for their budget, lifestyle, and needs. Dental bridges continue to be a popular choice for many patients in the Sandy, Utah area for several reasons.

What is a dental bridge?

A dental bridge, or fixed dental bridge, is a porcelain restoration made to replace one or more teeth in a row. It is made by a dentist and bonded into place on the surrounding teeth.

How does a dental bridgework?

A dental bridge works by “bridging the gap” left behind after a tooth has been lost or extracted. It is created using ceramic materials that mimic the appearance of natural tooth enamel. Crowns are used on each side to bond onto adjacent teeth, and false teeth called pontics are fused in-between. When the restoration is bonded to the supporting teeth, the pontic fills the gap and appears like a tooth in its place.

Are dental bridges permanent?

Dental bridges are more permanent than a partial or full denture but not as long-lasting as a dental implant. That is what makes it a popular choice for many of our patients, especially those who do not have the funds to move forward with placing a dental implant.

Can a dental bridge last a lifetime?

Dental bridges can last many years with proper care, but it is unusual for them to last a lifetime. They often need to be replaced over the years.

Dental Bridges

Dental Bridges
A bridge is a non-surgical way to replace one or many teeth. A bridge uses the adjacent teeth as anchors to support the missing tooth or teeth. With today’s dental advancements, a bridge can be fabricated in a fairly short period of time, using a metal or nonmetal foundation. Don’t let that missing tooth affect the way you speak, eat, and smile. Bridges yield immediate results that last a lifetime. Ask your dentist what type of bridge may be right for you.
